Exploring New Zealand’s South Island: Freedom Camping Around Wanaka and Bruce Bay

Freedom. Freedoom.. Freedooom… Oh Freedom Camping is one of the best ways to explore New Zealand’s South Island. The landscapes of New Zealand’s South Island are simply stunning. The best way to soak in its natural beauty is not by staying in a hotel, but finding a spot to camp right in nature.  Our journey from Wanaka to Bruce Bay along New Zealand’s Wild West Coast was our first experience with finding a true spot to freedom camp (i.e. not staying at a D.O.C. campsite, but discovering your own secret spot within a sanctioned freedom camping zone). Visiting The Lone Tree of Lake Wanaka

Wanaka is an outdoorsy town located at the foothills of Lake Aspiring National Park. While Wanaka has its share of outdoor adventures, we only had time for a quick stop at Lake Wanaka while on transit to Hokitika. I was super excited to see “The Lone Tree of Lake Wanaka.” The Lone Tree of Lake Wanaka is one of the most photographed trees in New  Zealand, and for good reason. Freedom Camping on New Zealand’s South Island: Cruising Along New Zealand’s Wild West Coast

Visiting Fox and Franz glacier New Zealand’s Wild West Coast was WET during our March visit. We continued our caravan journey along the coast to Fox Glacier. We planned on driving out to view the Glacier up close and take a walk around. Unfortunately, Glacier View road was closed due to flooding and there was no access available. So we drove out to Lake Matheson instead. We took a short, but scenic walk in the misty rain and continued onwards to Franz Glacier. Success! The road was open and we were able to hike very close to Franz Glacier...

Applying for a Vietnam E-Visa with a U.S. Passport

Booking an E-Visa when visiting Vietnam is a great way to save time and the hassle of obtaining one upon entry at the airport.  It was our first time to Vietnam and were really stoked because we were able to book all of our flights on Business Class from Hawaii using our Airlines Miles (We really like the American Express Platinum Card because they currently have a 60000 sign-up bonus). In preperation for our first ever visit to Vietnam we decided to plan ahead and apply for an E-Visa by visiting the Vietnamease National Web Poetal on Immigration E-Visa...

Two Day Trip to Mystical Milford Sound

My jaw dropped.  I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.  Waterfalls, upon waterfalls, upon waterfalls.  In pidgin I would say, “You seen da waterfalls?  Da buggah is unrealz!” Milford sound was one of the most stunning places that I have ever visited. We began our trip to Milford Sound in Queenstown where we woke (actually, Surina woke because I decided to sleep in) to an ono (delicious/good) sunrise. We then caught the bus ($10/person or $2/person with GoCard) to the airport, where we would catch a connecting shuttle to Britz to pick up our ActionPod caravan for the week....
